As of January 2008 Laris Farm has become a centre member of The Pony Club, UK. The Pony Club is the largest association of riders in the world. By being part of this organization, Laris Farm Pony Club members can share their interests in ponies and riding. We offer opportunities to learn new riding skills, how best to look after your pony, make new friends and above all have lots of fun!

The objectives are:

• to encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
• to give instruction in riding and horsemanship and to educate Members to look after and to take proper care of their animals.
• to promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty to create strength of character and self-discipline.

You do not have to have your own pony or horse. Ponies and horses are available for hire from Laris Farm for PC events.      

As a Pony Club Member at Laris Farm we can offer you to participate in achieving not only Mini Achievement Badges and Achievement Badges but we also encourage Members to take Efficiency Tests as outlined by The Pony Club.

ACHIEVEMENT BADGES

The Pony Club Achievement Badge scheme is a fun way to gain a greater knowledge of horsemanship and the countryside. At Laris Farm members can work towards 11 achievement badges either through their lessons, perfect ponies or as an additional activity. The badges that you can achieve at Laris Farm are:
Bandaging and Rugging, First Aid (Equine), Shoeing, Feeding, Poisonous Plants, Trees, Loading, Points of the Horse, Tack Cleaning, Bird Watching, Saddlery and, for the more experienced rider, How to be Lunged.

TESTS

The Pony Club training structure at Laris Farm encourages Members to take tests which enable them to learn progressively about horse and pony care and riding. The tests are taken at recommended ages and are designed with certain objectives in mind.

Further information about The Pony Club and a detailed description on the Achievement Badgesand Efficiency Tests are available on the Pony Club website at www.pcuk.org which also includes information to all PC branches and centres.

Membership application forms for the Laris Farm Pony Club are available in the office. Once you are a member of the Pony Club you will receive a Starter Pack which will give you more information about Membership, what you can achieve and your Membership card.  New Pony Club Membership is open to boys and girls under 21 years of age.

PONY CLUB EVENTS

We pride ourselves at Laris Farm to cater for all age and ability groups. Our trained and qualified instructors are always there to give individual attention and we want you to have fun whilst at the same time learning and increasing your skills and knowledge of riding, pony care and stable environment.  Pony Club Members can participate in rallies, gymkhanas, dressage, jumping competitions, National Pony Club Quiz and more.  

Rallies are divided into 4 groups according to experience:

1. Green - lead rein and just off lead rein, walk and trot
2. Blue - walk, trot and canter
3. Red - walk, trot, canter and jump
4. Gold - riding in the open, hacking, jumping and dressage

There will be a dress code for PC events including a hat and tack inspection. All members will be expected to wear the badge and tie at all PC events.

Pony Club Discounts

Laris Farm has negotiated a 5% discount for all Laris Farm Pony Club Members with Chobham Rider.

All Laris Farm riders can also benefit from a discount when purchasing a body protector from Buttons Saddlery in West End. Please ask in the office for further details.

We will have a classified section on our website which will allow us to sell your outgrown riding wear. You will need to send details (article description, size, prize, phone number). This is just for riding clothes and tack and not ponies for sale. You do not have to be a Pony Club Member to buy or sell your second hand articles.
